Re: Grand National day

I hate the Grand National. One horse died... thought we were a nation of animal lovers

Re: Grand National day

I have to agree with Donna. That poor horse that died was just another of fatalities to be added to the Grand National's long list.

That's why I hate the GN. but to be honest I did hope Simon would win; it's my brother's name. Please tell me he didn't die! I don't know the result, except for the winner.

Re: Grand National day

Must admit I am not a fan of the grand national due to the number of horses who die

Re: Grand National day

McKelvey! Oh that's very sad. He was the horse that the One Show was following through, he'd had some injury previously. Are the fences too high, the course too long? It seems very cruel that brave animals are put to this fate, yet there have been such outstanding horses to have gone round there three or more times, Red Rum, for instance.
Pity about Mckelvey, RIP, brave soldier.

Couldn't agree more.

I have NEVER agreed with the Grand National. As an animal lover I personally would feel like a hypocrite if I placed a bet. Far too many horses have died or been seriously injured. Sorry if I offend, but this is how I feel.

Adited to add: This cruel race will carry on if it is supported, i.e. people placing bets - same principal as greyhound racing.
