What a marvellous description: blowsey! I know exactly what you mean; the standard ones are so large and overdone..they always make me think of flower arrangements at a funeral home! These are smaller flowered and spaced further apart; much more natural looking IMO.
The fact that I had to look up earwigs gives you an idea that we don't have them, or at least not here in my area that I know of. You seem to have some unpleasant pests: those lily beetles you were telling me about recently, and of course slugs! Someone mentioned a bit ago how awful they were on hostas.
But we do have the horrible Eastern grey squirrel...
