Re: Help needed with a pregnant stray

Ooooh sorry for the delay in returning... I have had some serious problems getting onto this site

Anyway, here we go - six beautiful babies were born on Saturday night (she went into labour about 7pm, first kit was born at 730pm!!!! last around 1130pm). It was certainly a fun-filled evening. By the time number 4 arrived she was too tired to break sacs or eat placentas so I had to intervene for numbers 4, 5 and 6 - placing the kits in front of her once free for her to deal with placentas/cords etc.

She originally tried to pick number 1 up by the throat which caused us some alarm but she soon got the hang of the "scruff not throat" idea

Here are some photos of Saturday night. Be warned, they are quite gruesome and graphic. I will edit the title of this thread (if I am able to) to reflect that!

Let's play spot the placenta. Sorry there's so many! This is the births of babies 1-4

Oh you don't get off that easily - here are some more.

After they had dried off a bit:

And yesterday (the morning after), a bundle of kittens. It was kinda hard to get decent shots but when they are a bit older I shall line the up and introduce them formally

Number four:

Number two: (ginge + white)

90% sure this is number five:

Absolutely amazing photos! So glad it all went well. What a very clever mummy! Please send her my congratulations - her babies are lovely. Wish I lived nearer to you - I'd be volunteering for kitty sitting!

Re: Help needed with a pregnant stray

Thanks so much for posting those; I've never been present at a birthing, and it was fascinating to see~! What lovely babes, and mum looks so proud of her wee ones! Well done, mum!
