This is so confusing (its taken me half an hour just to right this) Every day apart from Friday I do this; I wake up at 5am... press snooze a good few times, then drag my self out of bed at 5.20. Think oh my god, not work again! I'm at my first job everyday (including Sunday) im there from 6 till 9 and off on a Friday. At 9 (after my first job) I go to my other job (visual merchandiser one) on a, Monday and Wednesday I work 9-11. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday I work till 1. I cherish Fridays lol. On that day I'll still wake up early-ish, about 7 then laze about, do some of the house work for my mummy, go on t'inernet watch tv, listen to music etc. |

Great thread Happykatz...I agree with you on this point Eileen, weekends and weekdays do tend to be one and the same when you retired... my day usually starts when the alarm goes off at around 8am.. I feed Harri and George and If i dont have any errands or appointments in the morning i'll slip back into bed and i tend to doze until around 9.30.. Hubby gets up around 8.30... has breakfast and has a quick read of the paper and then brings me a cup of tea and the paper at around 9.30... i read the paper and have my tea and get up around 10. I put some washing on if theres any to be done...whilst that is going around and around I check and reply to emails, pay bills, make phone calls for appointments and check out some of the websites that i subscibe to etc until usually around noon.. Then it's time to do my hour of house work that i do each day..and after that my 45 mins of exercise that i do MOST days... and then i go and have a shower.. and start thinking about what we will have for dinner if i haven't already taken something from the freezer.. Of course if i have appointments in the morning then i am up and showered and ready to leave by 9 am. I volunteer for quite a few charities and organisations.. I am a volunteer coordinator for Student Exchange Australia.. which involves me looking after students that are living with host families.. reading them the riot act if required and generally being the first point of contact for both the sudent and the host family should they have any queries or difficulties..I have to interview prospective host families and also sudents who want to go on exchange to other countires... there are follow up reports that need to be done and contact logs to be kept up to do... i can have anywhere up to about 10 students at one time that i have to keep tabs on I am also involved with a couple of cancer support groups... given that i am a cancer survivor it's good be involved in those to help people who are newly diagnosed and need support. Both hubby and I being retired police officers, we are heavily involved in a charity called Blue Ribbon which raises money to equip hospitals with state of the art accident and emergency equipment...Blue ribbon raises around 1 million dollars a year which directly assists the community as a whole In my spare time i like to play with the cats... (ok i do that when i should be doing other things as well but who doesn't??!!) I do spend a couple of hours in the evening on the computer.. usually doing research for our holidays and answering emails that have come in during the day.. Thats about it really...dont really know how i found time to work full time when i did... and shift work at that! |

Dominik's alarm goes of at 0615 which he promptly switches off. This wakes me and I doze for 15 minutes. During this time Myshka usually hurls himself onto my chest or stomach for a snuggle. At about 0635 I drag my carcase out of bed and go upstairs to the top floor to start extracting the boys out of their beds. Sebi's usually awake(ish) but Domi's a heavy sleeper and I need to employ extreme tactics with him I then make their beds and tidy their rooms a bit. OH will usually change Sebi's nappy and dress him and I'll go downstairs, put my lenses in, clean the litter trays, open the shutters, wash cat bowls and add food and clean Myshka's eyes. Then I get breakfast for the boys and myself and maybe OH dependent on how charitable I'm feeling I usually supervise the boys' eating and then I'll grab a shower, do my make up and hair and get dressed. Out the door at about 0815 and drive the boys to school and get to the office at just after 0900. Then I spend pretty well the whole day at my desk/PC eating lunch infront of the computer also unless I need to pop to the local village for anything. Leave at about 1630 to collect the boys from their after school care. Get home, let them play in the garden or watch TV whilst I do dinner for them, read the post that's come during the day and continue any small bits of work at the PC. Supervise their eating and then a bit more play/TV or I might get Dominik started on his homework. At 1845 I start taking Sebi up to bed - sometimes with Domi's help . Then once he's had his story and millk I settle him and then back down to the basement to continue helping Domi with his spelling and/or reading. Once he's done this I'll let him watch a bit of Dr Who or about 20 minutes of a DVD. At 1945, I start taking him up for story and bed. If OH's back from the office sometimes he'll take Domi up instead. Then I start our dinner which we usually eat sometime from 2030 onwards. Bit of PC or TV time after this or if there are urgent things from work we need to sort out might do that instead. Bed sometime between 10 and 11 depending on what's going on. And then it starts all over again! |

Goodness, all you active people! The advantage of retirement is that you're not tied in to any routine, I still get a thrill about not having to set the alarm clock any more! No more shrill ringing at 6.30am. I wake when I wake, it could be any time from 7-ish to 8.45-ish. Sometimes I get up immediately, sometimes I turn over again, it depends on whether OH is already up or if Jason is scratching the bedroom door demanding breakfast. Next, let the dog out for a wee and give him his breakfast. At some point in the day we walk the dog for about an hour, no set time for this, sometimes in the morning, or early afternoon, sometimes it's as late as 4pm. He always needs a bit of attention afterwards as he collects twigs, leaves, gorse, heather etc. in his coat. Sometimes this takes ages like on Monday when he rolled in a fresh cowpat and went green all over, full shampoo required! I also spend quite a long time in the morning reading the paper, doing the crosswords and sudoku puzzles. Lunch is always quick, a salad or soup and roll for example. Housework and laundry get done, (but not everyday!) and I only go to the shops about twice a week. At this time of year the garden usually gets some attention daily, but nothing too strenuous! I cook our main meal for about7pm and in the evening I catch up with friends who are still in employment, watch tv and read. At various and unspecified times of the day I come on Catsey and a dog breed-specific forum. Bedtime is always quite late usually after midnight. |

Morning My day usualy starts off when the alarm goes off at 7am thats if i here it. Get my eldest daughter up for school. Then we give my youngest daughter breakfast and start off to walk to school. We usualy pick up next door neighbours daughter then go for another neighbours daughter. Get back have a drink tidy the kitchen up and feed the cats. I go then to check on the rabbits and clean them out every day if its messy. I then sweep the room up and wash the floor. I then check the outdoor bunnys and guinnea pigs and feed and change there water. They get cleaned out twice a wk. Once a wk i clean the hamsters out as well. Afternoon I usualy walk a lovely 10month oul chocolate lab she is as daft as a brush. Then watch Doctors and go pick up my daughter and usualy the girls that i take in the morning. They sometimes play at our house. My daughter comes home about 4.30pm. We have tea about 6ish. Night I am realy sad but sit in the kitchen so the kids can watch Tv in living room its quieter and we get time to ourselfs as well. They both go up stairs at around 8pm to do there homework. I usualy check the outdoor buns around 10ish. Watch a bit of TV and goto bed with one of the cats or all of them. Writing it down it realy does sound a bit boring though. |

I am up at 7, have a shower, apply make-up, do hair and then tidy up, feed cats, clean litter trays, prepare breakfast for foster lad, get my breakfast and leave for work at 8.30. Pop home at 12.30 to let dogs out. Home at 3.40, do a few chores, prepare dinner, make sandwiches for next days lunch, walk dogs for about an hour. Relax and watch TV and go on internet for a while. OH is up at 5.40 to walk dogs. Tuesdays & Thrsdays are my days off, and although I get up at the same time, I spend about an hour at the gym, do housework, shopping and any other chores. Week-ends are usually spent doing the garden, cleaning cars, walking dogs and relaxing if I am lucky! |
