Re: Help! ( I think.)

Hi all,
it was brilliant ! Its been really windy here though and out in the open it was worrying me a bit as we watched the helicopter taking off and landing (as we were nice and early!) I tossed a coin for going in the front next to the pilot (my choice as I also fancied being in the front though it was dual control so whoever went there had to watch their feet lol) but unfortunately called wrong tho the gentleman who "won" very gallantly offered me the front if I wanted it but fair s fair. There were three of us in the back, I had the right window view. Taking off was the weird bit as it lurched to and fro so you got a view of grass then straight ahead then grass etc but once up, well, amazing and yes, not like a plane at all. It was vibrating when we faced the wind (bit alarming for a minuite) but not when we werent and we went over part of nottingham and close to the east midlands airport. We must have gone a fair few miles but it flew by (forgive the pun) and seemed to last seconds not fifteen minuites. I fell out getting out (trust me) but the chap opening the door caught me much to my two s amusement. Had to wear head phones which we could talk through but the drumming of the blades could be heard all the time so conversation was difficult but yes, very enjoyable experience. ! Jan x

So glad you enjoyed it Jan - I remembered about the taking off but didn't say anything before you went - didn't want to spoil your fun (or alarm you). Isn't incredible to see the ground rushing past when you first get off the ground?

Re: Help! ( I think.)

Thanks all - yes, Leesy,(Pauline) I would love to do it again but especially to sit in the front if I got the chance, real panoramic view! It cost around seventy five pounds for the quarter of an hour, double that and you get the half hour so I better start saving!

Thanks for not mentioning the take off bit Angieh - I am always nervous in a plane about the take off so it probably would have spooked me a bit but I really prefer a helicopter take off any day lol - its just so quick! One minuite your on the ground, the next your up there bobbing about! I always said I would buy one if I won the lotto - better get buying tickets again. ...

Dinahs Mum and Sage Cat - thanks ! Your all such nice people on here. Jan x

Re: Help! ( I think.)

Oh yes, was going to put them up but to be honest its just grass, sky, a view of the back of the pilots seat in front of me lol - was very small in there tho it was an average sized helicopter, a bell ranger I seem to recall. But there were five of us in there. I did nt want to bore anyone!! Jan x
