Re: help :-(

Thanks guys, ok, so here's the plan, i'm getting some new (thanks for the link) heat pads, and also some feliway and/or zylkene, and a nice new indoor bed, to make a cosy retreat in the kitchen, I've got a folding screen thing which i'll use as a room divider and the initial plan is not to feed Cairo her supper and then get her inside with just me and the lovely calm surroundings each evening to have her tea, and hopefully building up to her sleeping in her bed in the kitchen. I will very gradually introduce the dog, on her lead and in the down position, I think the best I can hope for is that on the harshest nights Cairo will come in for the night and settle down, even if it's not every night. So, I've got a few items to purchase before the plan can be put into action. I'll keep you all informed
Thanks everyone

Re: help :-(

I used Zylkene on a semi feral boy with great success. It's much cheaper online than at the vets...as is Feliway

Re: help :-(

Hi Guys

wanted to give you all a quick update as you were so kind with your advise (been meaning to do this all week but it's been crazy so please excuse me)
Anyway, plan going ok so far...
night one got Cairo in with everything prepared and dog locked out, and we had a quiet hour or so on the kitchen floor together. She was quite skittish at first as you would imagine, and the dog was very curious as to what was happening behind the screen, but Cairo was ok, she ate a little bit (not sure if the zyklene works but she did purr alot after she's had some ), she had loads of fuss which seemed to help distract her and although she stayed close to me and the back door she even settled down enough to stay on her heat pad in her bed for a bit and have a brush, she was relatively keen to go out though when I opened the door. Anyway, much the same the next night - except she had a long brush which she loves, and she had a drink of water from the dogs bowl! I was thrilled though when the next morning she came diving into the kitchen as soon as I opened the door
So, she's getting a little more confident each evening and exploring a little bit more, and last night her fuss time was cut short because I was working until gone 11.30pm so rather than make her wait all night for dinner (as this is her bribe to come into the house - even though i generally still have to pick her up), I fed her and then we had a quick 20mins fuss and a small piece of cheese in the kitchen - hopefully just making it chilled and nice each time she'll slowly get better...AND (sorry! am really going on!) whilst I was heating her heat pad last night (she was still inside) the dog came down to investigate (I hadn' t put the screen across as the dog had already been asleep upstairs), anyway, I was in the middle of both of them fussing Cairo for a bit, then i made Maisy (the dog) lie down on the other side of the room and wait whilst I dealt with Cairo and let her out, and they were both great
and breathe...haha! thanks for listening guys, thought you might appreciate the update after all your help, will let you know how it goes over the coming few weeks xx
