Kearen you will be sorry you asked me that, i can be a bore about it ;D Initialy i chose a Basenji because i read that they don't shed much, are cat like, clean, no doggy smell, and yodel. What the book didn't tell you was that they are a very independantly minded breed who will only do something for you if there is a pay check for them In fact i'm not even sure they should be called Dogs as he was unlike any Dog i'd had before. My first Basenji was a rescue and coming up for 3 years, he was a handful but we loved him and put up with his ways. We lost both our Dogs last year and decided we would like to get another Basenji. This time because i am computer savvy i am better informed and we will work realy hard with training, also i have developed a network of Basenji owner friends. We saw a Staffie in Pets at home today, it was impossible to walk past without fussing her, she was straining at the leash to get to us and positively wiggling everything she'd got |

See thats what I like about Basenji's they are one of the few hounds I would...have. Very strong minded. I used to see one out and about when Sal was a pup and he would be literally bouncingup and down in the long grass of Summer...and he wasn't called Tigger either. He was a lovely dog and their 2nd Basenji and they said hard work but throughly worth it. |
