as far i remem, the police didnt bring charges as according to them, she didnt commit a criminal offence

That is so sad But as others have said, thank goodness you were there-it was obviously meant to be that someone caring like you came along when you did and brought her to the vets where her suffering was eased and she passed peacefully instead of being cold and alone.

Only just caught up with this thread, Jacks. But just want to say you are a hero, and as for the miserable specimens of humanity who passed by a crying animal, I damn their eyes.
Thanks be to God that you took the poor cat to a vet and that medical aid put him/her at rest. I can totally understand your tears, not only of compassion for the hurt cat but in frustration, that some of the human race are beneath contempt.
