You might want to add in that pyometra (sp) IS fatal - read it in one of my cat books that it's fatal and spaying is the only way of saving the cat's life

Edit: typed spraying instead

I am absolutely in support of what you are saying and doing. But I tell you now, nobody comes on here BEFORE they breed, only after. regardless of how well read an article is, it will in almost all cases be after the fact.

I fully support you though, I think its an excellent idea.

If it gets one person to spay their cat it will be worth it. I can't speak for Elaine but personally I can't sit here and not do anything to persuade people to stop breeding from their cats Even after someone has let their cat get pregnant, it hopefully will persuade them to get her spayed afterwards.

I hear you Dawn and I know you are absolutely right. The reason I wanted to do it was so that Catsey no longer looked like it advocated such practices.

Dawn's right, of course, but if we get only one cat spayed because of this article, that's 20,000 kittens not born.

I totally agree which is why I agree with you doing it. Sadly though, I cant recall anyone "thinking" of breeding, just those that have.

Re: So You Think You Want To Breed? (article)

Good work, i think both articles are well written, can't pick
between the titles but i think the following sentence needs to be near the top
Thousands of cats are euthanized in the UK each year, why don’t we prevent the unplanned litters of today so that they do not become the unwanted cats of tomorrow

It is quite true that people do come on the forum after their cat has been bred but the articles may just persuade them to prevent future litters being born.

Well done both of you for your hard work.

Dawn is right of course, but at least it is worth trying.
