Velvet, Basenjis can be difficult to train as they are clever Dogs but are not neccesarily bothered about pleasing their owners. There has to be something in it for them, like food Malaika has responded well to training, we are realy pleased with her. We don't show her although we have entered her in fun/companion shows. We will have to have her spayed at some point this year. We pronounce her name Malika, it's Swahili for Angel. |

Her name has a lovely meaming, she looks like a little angel You have done very well with her training. I think too many people give up too quickly or expect too much too soon from young pups & youngsters. After your success I will definitely keep Basenjis on my "wish" list tbough would need to get one from the mainland if it ever happened! I will be keeping my fingers crossed that a little boy dog is born I |

We are using a different breeder purely because we didn't realise our breeder would be breeding a litter with her other bitch. We met this breeder last year and put our names down with her last year. I like the name Kwame. Have only just noticed the title of this thread says Hoppy birthday |
