That makes a lot of sense, Kazz. Pity the politicians probably won't do it..... Guess I'm too cynical, but the expression that comes to mind is going to Hell in a handbasket. |

I'm glad you are safe Kazz - how scary. Is it still going on in your area? I believe these are the same sort of people who are cruel to children and animals - they are worse that animals themselves. As to what to do about it .... well, I can't say and that's why we leave these decisions to politicians and probably why we are in this mess anyway. I keep thinking about the innocent people who lived above their businesses and now have only what they managed to escape with, in most cases just the clothes they were wearing. That is a dreadful indictment of a so-called civilised society. |

Deja vu. I remember all too well the race riots here in 1968 that spread like wildfire from city to city. What started out as legitimate protests about discrimination turned into an orgy of looting and burning ... a chance to pick up a nice TV, stereo, some good booze ..... Our office closed early and as the traffic was wall to wall and not moving at all, started walking home, looking over my shoulder watching smoke from fires that had been set further downtown; a very strange sensation to see your city burning. I haven't thought about those days in years; the TV pics last night brought it back all too clearly; I do so hope it doesn't get out of hand for you all. Stay safe, people.... |
