Re: Healing Vibes needed for Eva...

Ok, the vet has jsut called, they have taken 20mls out of her gallbladder, which should releive some of the pressure, the gallbladder has thickened, so this has been happening over a long period which is why it probably hasnt ruptured up till now. It is still at risk of rupturing though which will kill her. They have her on two different types of antibiotics, vitamin K injections, B vits, fluids and have inserted a tube into her neck to allow other meds and food if necessary.
She has both hepatic lipidosis as well as the cholangiohepatiits. The bile is very thick and black in colour, no puss as that would have meant an infection. She is now recovering from the anesthetic in the ward and receiving meds every few hours. I will be called daily to let me know how she is, they will also call me if she takes a turn for the worst.

Re: Healing Vibes needed for Eva...

Thankyou all, Eva needs all the healing vibes she can get but yes in light of just how seriously ill she is, she is doing remarkably well which is why we want to give her the best possible chance.
If we lose her, ofcourse we will be devastated but we know that she will have left us a bit more comfortably than if we hadnt taken her to the Edinburgh vet clinic.
From what I have learned these past few weeks, it seems to me that all the time I have been calling her a Diva and a grumpy mare, she has actually been in pain and we simply never knew.
