Szach Mat was what my Dad always used to say when he won at chess against me . . . I used to loose a lot so I tended to hear it quite a bit

The answer is 2!!! But you have to be playing black to do so as white always moves first and can let the guard down.

I remember Szach being used when the Shah of Iran was deposed. So I guess it's a direct translation of that.

King in Polish is Krol (with an accent on the 'o' to make it sound like a cross between 'oo' and 'u'). Phew!
