Re: Thinking of getting a dog from the guide dogs

I think its a lovely thing to do and best of luck, it is something I would consider in the future or adopting a retired brood bitch from them.

Do many people hand back breeding bitches once they dont have pups any more Smudgley? I would have thought they would become too much of a pet in that time!

It is extremely rare. The retired bitches do not come up for rehoming very often at all & are like golddust when they do. Circumstances at the present time means I have 2 young bitches that have been taken off the breeding programme early & are in need of new homes.

Incidently Alex - did you know Donna has just taken on another BB from us? She's had the most beautiful GSD, we have imported her from a Guide Dog school in America. She is perfect in every way & she's pregnant too. (the dog not Donna )

No I didn't know, I haven't seen her in a few months. That's great, has she still got the other one though? Robert would love to do this, but the prob would be the vets bills once we adopted her, ah well, maybe one day.

Yes she's still got Florrie.

Florrie had a litter of pups a little while back.

Pella (the new one) is pregnant (hopefully)

I am scanning her soon.

Re: Thinking of getting a dog from the guide dogs

Thanks Alex. I know I keep saying I'll pop in, but I'm always racing around like a headless chicken (bad choice of words there Kelly ) I am going to Telford tomorrow actually. If I get chance I'll call or text you to see if you are around. (not promising though) Not sure what time it will be. I think I've got your number, but have just changed my phone & have lost some numbers from the phone book, can you pm it to me please just in case?
