Re: Savannah saturday

Angie, i wish Kwame was like that for the trainer, what a good boy Monty is, i understand it will be frustrating when he doesn't do it for you.
Karen, part of the silver assessment is for the examiner to go over the dog, so i am hoping he will be ok with it, i think it's a good thing to learn. We are also wanting to do the odd show with them, have been to two ringcraft classes and he was ok when people went over him on the table but a little nervous, we shall have to see how things pan out, could be dead in the water before we start
Katy, you could be right about the scents on the trainer, she suggested that might be the case herself as she had been handling lots of dogs.
Eileen, i do think he's at that bratty teen stage.

Yes Sal got the silver but like Malaika she didnot care two hoots about people going over her.

Opps sorry, what are his parents like.......is it a breed trait. A friend of mine had a Chow well her mother did and .......it is a breed trait apparently to be aloof?

Sal was just the opposite in fact so was Tess, they both took little to no notice of the trainer when at agility or going through bronze and silver. They both only had eyes only for me. Mind you that suited me, Staffs are a little too trusting and liable to potter off behind anyone with a bag of crisps or ball especially if accompanied by children .

Even now on occasion Sal will potter off in a world of her own and I have to stand in a stationary star jump position then whistle and wave my arms in the air like I am bringing a plane to get her attention......she sort of stops, looks who she is following, blushes slightly and give a slight shrug of her shoulders (Staffie style) and jogs towards me with her rolling gait reaches me and gives me a quick once over to check I have not assocaited with another dog in her brief absence.

your description of Sal made me laugh, i can just imagine you doing star jumps.
Kwame's mum and older brother are a little difficult with other dogs at shows so we are hoping he doesn't get like that. He does sometimes growl at certain dogs when he's on the lead but then so does Malaika, her breeder says that her dogs don't do that but i'm afraid she does occassionaly
Yes the breed can be aloof with strangers and it's realy important to keep them socialised.
During training like your Tess and Sal both dogs only realy have eyes for us although Malaika will work a little with Evelyn.
Tomorrow we go to ringcraft, we will see what Kwames like there. Think i'll hold off ordering the showlead for him
