I used to get such bad chilblains - have never suffered since I married my OH (NO - now I wasn't intending to be naughty) but he is such a warm body! |

Well, the plumber's been here. looked at the boiler which is working, checked the radiators which are cold although they had water in them, checked the thermostat, had a long mumbly conversation with another plumber in the basement on his phone, then left saying he'd be back in 30 minutes.then went away to fetch the other fellow. I asked if it were a frozen pipe but he said no, so don't understand what he meant by a water problem. Anyhow, it's being worked on; hopefully we'll be fixed later in the day and I won't have to spend the night at Carolyn's. It would have been the first night in 44 years I didn't sleep in my own bed!! And I wasn't looking forward to catching Leia and toting her, her food and her litterbox!! |

Looking hopeful, both plumbers back. As I understood it there was sediment in the bottom of the boiler (???) and needs to be vacuumed out. Which they're doing now by the sound of it. Leia is ignoring everything and looking mildly annoyed on her once toasty-warm radiator. |

Success! Seems I have a bad gas valve, and as this is an old boiler they have to get a part; will be back Monday. But with the cleaning and other fiddling around they did the heat will be back on, a bit less than optimal, but I can certainly live with that.!! I'll start shedding layers as it warms up gradually. Just glad it's over, thanks for all your good vibes! |

Glad the heating is on the mend xxx I can sympathise with the bad gas valve, my G has one of those and the emissions are terrible  |
