Re: Maddie (Labrador Retriever)

awww bless such a cute photo Fran but i can see your worry.
I had a CKC Spaniel and she used to let the cats suckle from her too. It got so bad she started to produce milk. Once i realised i got her to the vets and they said i had to seperate them from each other for a week or so to let the milk dry up and to stop it happening if i saw it other wise the dog would end up with mastitis due to producing too much milk and no babies to feed.
Needless to say the week apart was hell the dog wouldnt eat without the cat. The cat wouldnt settle without the dog etc etc etc but we got over it and then they just used to cuddle up in the washing basket and no more suckles were to be had lol.

Good luck Fran

It is hormonal Sweet, I knew because of her behaviour, not wanting to leave her 'nest', collecting all the toys and being very possesive of them and when I checked, she had milk also. She's much better now, the milk is going and she's becoming much more her old self again thank goodness!
