CJ - it looks like you're using soil that's maybe too heavy for seedlings. Maybe next time try adding some sand to enable them to drain more freely. Either that or some bagged compost . . . Donna - it could be that tray 2's seeds are just more 'leggy'. In the past when I've done this some seeds come up looking really weedy but that's what they should look like!! It's all a bit trial and error really!! |

CJ, I had a question about the soil also, are you using potting soil from a garden center, etc? Not dirt from the garden? It does look awfully heavy...... |

I dont know what I have used for compost. Just picked up a nice blue bag!! Was the smallest one for me to carry - but maybe I was lucky and got the right one. Didnt know there was different types!! Just thought it was mud in a bag!!! |

Have tonight transferred the healthy looking seedlings into small posts. Also potted the sunflower seeds - one seed had a root of about 30-40cms long!!!! Dont think the soil in the tray was deep enough and must of just gone round and round inside the tray lol |
