No not an accountant as such Mags, I deal with all of the tax issues for clients in the accountancy practice I work in. The other members of staff (accountants) complete the accounts for our clients and then I deal with all of the tax work. I have a client base of about 300 clients but the practice has about 700 clients in total (including, self employed, employed, tax only and limited companies) I have worked there now for nearly 10 years Oh and I can prepare a set of accounts without too many problems , I can also do (and have done on a self employed basis) book-keeping which I quite enjoy. A couple of years back I was a book-keeper for a local groundworkers, until their business took a turn for the worse I have worked for three accountants in the past and I have about 15 years experience working in the accountancy profession. |

lol I think once you learn the legislation the number crunching is fairly easy. It is just learning what needs to be applied to what! We also have some excellent software which prepares all of our tax return forms, we started this year filing the returns electronically and it went very smoothly. For the 2006 returns I intend to file the majority online, as it is quicker, it saves us time and paper/postage costs and also we haven't got somebody at the Revenue and Customs inputting the tax returns incorrectly which use to drive me nuts!!! lol |

Donna it is strange you say that but I am not great with maths, I am ok but not fantastic. I started out as a secretary to an Accountant, and started helping him entering the information onto their computerised system and it all went from there. I spend a lot of my time organising the workflow and clients, I do all of my own letters writing to clients requesting their tax info (500 letters ) It is a nice office, the staff are very nice and friendly, and my boss is great |

Thats why I stay where I am Emma, been there over 6 years now and work 9-3 so I can be there for the children after school. The staff are great, my manager is great and I end up half running the place with him as he values my input and experience. Who knows, one day I be the manager!!!! |
