Do you ever use Sudocrem on your dogs' paws Shelley? I know several people who swear by it. It's soothing and antiseptic and protects the area.

they are cat like dogs, Eileen. They get into odd positions and are cat like in the fact that they can be aloof, particularly with strangers. When training the reward has to be suitable as they are not a dog who simply wants to please you.

no i haven't Angie but i do have sudocreme.
I think you can get paw balm for maintainance too

I'm sure they are not the only dogs to behave like that! But maybe individual characteristics aren't the same as breed characteristics. Or maybe I'm just being underwhelmed with Monty's non-focus and non-desire to please just atm! He's an adolescent!

Probably he's just being an adolescent as you say. That lovely obedient little pup disappears and they can become a bit delinquent but i'm sure he'll get better again

its awful isn't it but apparently very common.
Kwame isn't very good in class realy, he's quite growly to certain other dogs when he's on his lead. I hate it and we have socialised him well but it's just the way he is.
He doesn't pick things up as quick as Malaika either.

We are trying to put off having Monty castrated until he's a year old at least ...... not sure if that would help. What are your plans for Kwame?

like you we are trying to wait untill he is a year old. Don't know whether it will help as my first Basenji was neutered and was still quite growly.
I hate the thought of putting them through an op but know it is neccesary

Just catching up with Kwame's plight, Shelley. Oh poor babe. Hope he's better now. Ang, we use Sudocrem for almost everything in this house it's a wonderful cure-all. Great for acne spots, dry skin patches and sunburn. Never without a big pot!
