I've just caught up on this Tom..... that is appalling of the bus driver to turn you off the bus like that, with no consideration for your safety at all. He certainly needs reprimanding. Your Mum must have been worried sick about you.... I'm so relieved you managed to get home safely and if I were your Mum I would certainly complain to the school about keeping you there knowing that the floods were getting worse. Hopefully your school will be closed tomorrow, surely they can't expect children to turn up in weather conditions like that! Hope you are feeling a lot warmer and comfortable now Tom....x |

Not trying to defend the school here but do you think its because really unlike snow the rain water is moving so dangerous/fast/deep; as Tom's pictures confirm those girls standing knee deep. Maybe the school did not think it "safe" for them to be allowed to just leave, thinking children being children may not go home directly but mess about in running/dangerous water. I have just seen on the news a lad has gone missing from beside a river thats broken its banks - hope that not the lad from your bus Tom, didn't catch the area but they were talkingof Yorkshire before. And a man of 28 has died after being trapped in a drain, despite efforts from police divers he was trying to clear water for his grandad. Water is so risky we had trouble the other week as you know with people being rescued via JCB buckets from sunroofs, and that was grown men not school children unable to walk due to the force of the water. And on the news it looks like 3 sea-king helicopters normaly for sea recue have been called in to rescue people from office roofs. But the bus driver thats totaly useless, and should be complained about at least he could have taken them to somewhere safe to be "left and collected" not just all out. |
