Reggie was referred to a specialist and has been in the animal hospital for the past few days having a CT scan, tests and ultrasound on his heart as it shown as being enlarged on xrays.
We had some bad news last night when we went to pick Reggie up. He only has months to live as they’ve found some minute tumours in his lungs so there’s not much they can do for him now.
I need to take him back on Tuesday just to see the Oncologist as they are going to treat him as best they can to ensure that he’s ok for his remaining time with us.
He’s not in any pain and seems his spritely self at the moment so we just have to make the most of him whilst he’s here. I’m just absolutely gutted and can’t stop crying…. It’s awful.
I would never ever let him get to a point where it was painful for him … I just don’t like the thought of seeing him deteriorate in front of us but we’ll know when the time is right for him to go.
The consultant said that he doesn’t know he’s poorly and he’s not in any pain. We both broke our hearts when we were told it was just awful… I had this thought that she was going to say everything would be ok and it didn’t turn out that way
The specialist we saw was lovely though and explained everything to us but said because it’s that rare they can’t give us that much advice or compare it to other cases they’ve had - it’s just so sad that such a lovely loving cat should have such a horrible illness xxx
We're making the most of the precious time we have left with him now and giving him a great end to a very special life as long as we can until the time comes when we have to say goodbye.....
