Re: Good manners and a little respect

I`m one for good manners. A simple please and thank you goes miles-I think I can manage those two in quite a few languages.

I was rather annoyed the other day to hear a (female) commentator on the radio saying she was actually offended when a male offered his seat.

A simple thanks but I`m OK would have been more polite

I have to tolerate foul words said in pain at the height of anxiety, as a midwife I hear it often but I click my ears off. However, when the 'lady' doesn't even offer an apology it makes one think is this the first word her baby will ever hear from its mothers mouth?
Oh Eileen ,you've started me on something now ...
So right! I have to say that those polite youngsters on the bus who give me one of the senior seats use absolutely appalling language!! The f---, mf.... and n.... words are apparently just an integral part of their vocabulary......

Re: Good manners and a little respect

I love to see good manners; a simple "please" and "thankyou" can make all the difference. I hate the way some people use bad language as part of everyday speech. Really winds me up!

Good manners-Stephan`s way.

About three years ago I was queuing for some veg and the lady behind me kept shoving and pushing, now if someone wants to keep touching my bum they should ask first.

Eventually I lost patience and turned to her saying:

"Excuse me madam, but we have not been introduced"

I don`t make this rubbish up you know
