Re: Summer dreams?

Years ago all pets would have been fed raw supplemented by cooked scraps from the table (before the advent of foods specifically designed for pets).....society has changed and demands were put on companies to produce foods that were well balanced and easy to serve. Raw feeding isn't balanced meal to meal and a lot of thought has to go into meal planning to ensure that over a period of time the animal receives a balanced diet. People often don't have time for this sort of diet and need something instant and ready. The pet food companies have met this demand with cooked food which is easier to preserve and has a better shelf life....

There are a lot of different schools of thought with regard to pet diets and indeed many different schools of thought within the raw feeding sector

Re: Summer dreams?

Very informative Fran!!

Think I will stick to the Felix. Have tried EVERYTHING else and that is all that they eat. If Misty and Chloe want to add to the prepared food they will have to catch more flies!!

Re: Summer dreams?

@ Donna!!

My cats don't particularly like Felix...at the minute they are having Classic but when they get bored of that I will probably put them back on Whiskas They also have access to dry food too and some of them have raw food from time to time

then we start with Lucky having senior food and gourmet type meals
Claude and Clooney have kitten biscuits
Maud, Matilda and Sylvester all have 'normal' cat food

Oooh it is complicated here especially when they all want each others

Hard to find food they like. They both hated Whiskas. Tried all sorts. They like Felix biscuits too so better stick with that. They never eat a whole pouch at a time tho. Just pick at it during the day. And then have another in the evening.

How do you keep them from eating each others?

I don't Donna...gave up trying ages ago

The only one I ensure has what she wants/needs is Lucky. I lock all the others out of the room whilst I feed her
