Re: Is it appropriate to post about acts of cruelty to cats on Catsey

I don't like to see graphic information in the title - it really upsets me. I Like the idea of a special graphic as well that way I don't have to read the story. I know cruelty exists - but I feel helpless and really sad when I read about it - I like the escapism of coming here and being with people who adore cats and other animals.

Thing is Moli, there are now quite a lot of new members who might not see the original discussion threads. I think a warning graphic together with a sticky or an addition to the rules might be a good compromise.

Also, maybe rather than having random links to news stories we could consider the rule being cruelty which the thread starter is actually aware of themselves or has in some way touched them personally (maybe close to their homes or similar)?

I think they need to stay on, for those people who aren't aware of some of the things that go on, but there should be more thought in the titling so that people dont have to read them if they dont want to. OR maybe some kind of special section that doesn't come up on the new posts button??

Re: Is it appropriate to post about acts of cruelty to cats on Catsey

Hi Guys

I don't think we should censor such news as it is important, being a Cat Lovers site we remain aware of what's going on around us.. at the end of the day if we as animal lovers are not going to campaign for better animal rights then no-one is

Perhaps when we are bigger we can having a animal rights/campaign section but for the time being I have created a sticky thread where such news can be posted. This prevents it from upsetting members but still allows the topics to be discussed freely.

This is only a temporary measure as it's unfortunately common to hear more of these stories this time of year. Maybe after a while we can revert back to normal, and if the sticky thread needs to be brought in again we can reassess then.

Thanks.
