Re: Emma's proposed new garden

Agree with Kazz about tree ferns; they're a lovely addition to any garden; also her remark about the hazel made me think of Harry Lauder's Walking Stick (Corylus contorta)...shrub or small tree with marvellous twisty branches and decorative pendant catkins...can also be grown in containers.

Re: Emma's proposed new garden

excellent stuff, I love having loads of ideas, perhaps anybody wanting to help and can choose one flower/shrub and I will plant it in the garden

Here is an overhead photo, this was taken quite a few years back.

Property is the one in the middle

The picture has really helped. Just a thought how about making the Summer house three sided glass/windows so you can see into the field as well as a views around and into the garden?

Re: Emma's proposed new garden

Emma I was thinking about your garden today, and tried to think what I would want? also just wondered how about making the whole back of the garden decked? about the width of the summer house? with the summer house one side and maybe the shed the other?
Then the planting coming up up the sides and curving round wider both corners? then narrowing again at the front of the decking so it looks/feels like your sitting between fields and flowers? with the pond to the left side of the decking so you look into it and it benefits from the shade of the tree next door for some part of the day? Decking would be lovely I think due to the fact you could get a different perspective of the garden being slightly higher about 12" but a different perspective?

Or move the shed on an angle so it sits in the right corner?
