yes, i always wanted one but i lived in california where they were illegal. i've moved here two years ago so now i can finally make it happen..woo hoo! now i just need to hope the shelter approves the adoption...i'm trying to avoid the pet store.

States rights, Mags; they are considered wild animals in many places. I have a vague memory that there is a rabies vaccination problem...uncertain on this; will look it up .....

from what i understand (which is not much..LOL), there is a belief that if ferrets got into the wild they would kill and harm wildlife and the ecosystem. but actually, ferrets could not survive and would die if not taken in by a human...some states have not figured this out yet or don't want to admit they made a mistake....

And that is very odd, as we have native ferrets, the black-footed ferret, which until recently was on the endangered species list! Why would pet ferrets be different? Are they non-native? Note to self: Google ferrets!

i'm not sure but i believe there is some kind of classification difference between a black footed and the type that are domesticated??? (at least i thought i read something like that somewhere...LOL)
