Sounds like a happy ending.! Good!

I had a father blackie and 4 adolescents on the allotment on Sunday. He was working like a good 'un, turning over vegetation, looking for succulent treats, and they were generally swearing and demanding! Kids! They were there for ages and weren't bothered at all by my presence.

You were probably helping with the soil-turning for worms as well? Blackbirds can be very bold. So nice to have them there. Makes a proper garden, really.
