Yes Angie i think you are correct. However as MrsH has pointed out most vets are not behaviourists and once the pup is settled properly you can then work on moving him out if you want to. Having a dog in the bedroom isn't everyones cup of tea. Personaly i like having the dogs in with us, they are very comforting.
You have to take all the advise and do what you think is best and what fits in with you.
I like mrsH's idea of a breed forum, we belong to a Basenji one.

Well, we shall continue to have Monty and his crate in with us as it helps us all atm. How and when to judge when to move it back to the kitchen is another matter entirely.

As to the forum, yes, it is good - I joined the Schnauzer forum in February this year but have really only just started to use it in earnest. I've had some reassurance today about Monty's heart mumur.

Don't listen to the vet Angie!!
I think at the moment Monty needs to know that you and OH are there which will help make him feel more secure in the crate as well as within your family. As he becomes more settled you will be able to move the crate back into the kitchen (if that's what you want to do, Darcy is still in our room although she had to move to make room for the cot!)

Also, no one has pointed out that the vet isn't the person who's being kept awake all night with the heartbreaking wailing! Go with your instincts.

Dont you believe it. You couldnt meet two more well adjusted dogs than our two. Lots do it. Creates a solid bond with your dog. Once they get older you can edge their bed nearer the door if you want.

Look at it this way - does it do Kizzy & Pip any harm to go in tbe bedroom. No..

News is good ...... another peaceful night apart from OH having to get up with cramp in his knee! Can't actually believe our luck either ...... Monty has been dry two nights running. Breeder did say she thought he was almost there.
