Update on Sleep Cones ~ Day 5

Went to bed about midnight and went to sleep within half an hour!
Woke up 4 or 5 times during the night but went back to sleep again pretty quick!! That is a good sign as usually when I wake I am awake for hours!!

Fingers crossed they are helping

Oh yes, fingers crossed Mags!
It's breaking the vicious cycle isn't it? If you can go to bed in relaxed mode, rather than in uptight, I must get to sleep tonight mode, chances of a reasonable sleep must be higher.

it wil be fab if this can be sorted without resorting to pharmaceuticals.........you know I am a pharma-phobe!

Re: Sleep promotion tips

since my stroke i get insomnia something terrible, soemtimes im sending emails at 3 am, 5 am all sorts.
I saw the programme, last year i think it was, on the sleep study. they suggested if you arent tired leave the bedroom, and go into a different room until you a re tired, or you associate your bedroom with NOT sleeping.
I find that works for me, when i go back upstairs to my bedroom Im off to sleep within few minutes.

This is going to sound a daf tone, but another thing i try is sitting and thinking of things that arent real, as if i was ahving a dream, ie sometimes i imagine I am figure skating ( hilarious , as if you'd see me in a tutu skating lmao) or floating on a lilo in a pool. things like that. I find slowly i drift on and actually start to dream about stuff like that.

Some nights i sleep an hour or two, some more. I NEVER EVER sleep through the whole night. Sometiems I am up to use the lavvy up to 14 times ( i counted once) but that could be diabetes realted. Usually Im awake for the loo on average three times a night.
I also find lavender oil in a burner helps ( dont forget to blow candle out before you go to sleep!) I put my burner on for half hour before i got bed, with door shut.

I have aslo tried relaxation cd's. one in particualr was excellent, until it came to the last few minutes where the guy says " and now you willw ake up feeling relaxed" cos i always DID wake up, though ive never heard the middle part of the cd lol

sorry to waffle so much.

Re: Sleep promotion tips

CJK, I get up most nights when I don't sleep and I'm usually downstairs for a couple of hours. When I go back to bed I usually go in the spare room so as not to disturb my hubby.

Update on Sleep Cones ~ Day 6

I slept right through the night!! That was amazing as I very rarely get a good sleep two night's on the trot I am really beginning to believe in the cones!
From now on I have to use them every other night, tonight being the first night without.....this will be interesting

You'll be fine Mags. The cycle is broken!
