Roxie's Little Kitten - 7/9/07 - 22/10/07

Sadly and tragically yesterday Roxie's kitten lost her fight for life

It all happened so very quickly. One minute she was fine, running around like the wind and had started eating and drinking well by herself without feeding from her mum.
Sunday she started being a bit unwell and was struggling to poo so with help we managed to ease her toileting and she seemed to be ok again. Come late evening she was making like a choking motion but not any noise and scratching at her face and mouth. I checked many times to make sure she had nothing stuck but couldnt see anything.

Again things settled and come morning she was large as life again and full of beans. Running round the house behind me as she always did. I made her an appointment at the vets for that evening to be on the safe side and set about housework.

When i looked she was doing the choking motion again so rang the vets and took her straight down. In this short space of time her tummy had bloated up again and she was trying to poo but couldnt and her face was getting sore from her scratching it

When we got to the vets they said her constipation and bloatedness was quite likely to be an intercusseption (spelling) but that they wouldnt be able to give her an anesthetic due to how small she was and underweight for her age. They said the choking motion wasnt choking but some kind of neurological happening probably some kind of fit or seizure.

They decided to give her some gas to calm her slightly as she was getting really distressed and so they could look at her a bit better. They said they couldnt give her an injection as her veins would be so hard to find being tiny.

Sadly her little body gave up the fight and the gas helped calm her enough to pass away in the vets arms. She had obviously had enough and didnt want to fight anymore

RIP baby girl you were so special and your short time here with us was very precious

Mummy
xx
