Daily thread - Friday

Everyone must be busy today - 9.30 and no daily thread started!
Hope no-one is affected by the floods around the country. We had a thunderstorm in the night but it is just quiet and dull now, though warm.
I have no exciting plans for the day - have some work to do for my OH, need to shop for something nice for supper tonight and would appreciate ideas for my aunt and uncle who have their golden wedding in a week or so. I think I'll just take the easy route and get them a bottle of champers - after all, what can you posssibly want/need after 50 years of marriage. (I was a bridesmaid for them. Blue net dress, white ribbon in my hair and no front teeth! )
All went well at the hospital with my mum yesterday. She had ECG and chest x-ray and saw the specialist all within an hour and a quarter. She does have an irregular heartbeat (we all knew that!) from her rheumatic fever of 65 years ago, which apparently leads to a greater risk of clot/stroke, so she will be put on warfarin treatment to thin the blood slightly (she has been on low dose aspirin for about 10 years, this is the logical next step)
That's it. Have a good day - stay dry!

Re: Daily thread - Friday

Morning DM, morning all, terrible floods here Have had a difficult time getting Em to school and Tom is still on the bus with no sign of getting to school yet I feel sorry for one of the girls he goes with who was supposed to be sitting one of her GCSE's this morning, not sure how she will stand with that one since she can't get in to do it? But I guess there will be quite a few others in a similar situation this morning.

Not much planned for today, I need to get out for some babycat biscuits but the traffic is at a standstill and the Firebrigade are running around like lunatics trying to sort all the flood areas out

Hope yo uall have a great day

Morning
Sounds like you have had it bad Fran. We have winds at the moment but nothing like your rain.
I have a confession to make. I'm just up. Derek took Ceilidh to school this morning then went on to work. He must have set the alarm for 11am as that's what woke me. Could be all my sleepless nights catching up . Cant beleive Ive slept til now.
Ceilidh gets a half day today. Then it's housework and Catsey for me.
Stay safe and have a good day everyone.

Morning! We had rain in the night but it has stayed dry so far today. It sounds awful where you are Fran ....I do hope Tom managed to get to school safely...

Not much planned for today...but a big basket of ironing awaits!

DM
, when my aunt and uncle celebrated their Golden Wedding we bought them a brass coloured bird cage with all the accessories and a yellow budgie ......... they were thrilled to bits with it as they had no other pets and the budgie would be easy to look after. To top it all, they called the budgie Goldie !!

Enjoy your day everyone, those with awful weather conditions take care....

Afternoon all! What a night! I have a wheelbarrow sitting in the garden, it is almost full to the brim with rain water. Scary!! Off to the girls school soon to help out in the reception class, I do enjoy working with the little ones. I help them with their reading on a friday afternoon. I've also been taking in pics of the kittens as they are doing growing and changing as their theme this term lol! Hope you all have a good day

DM - good news about your mum. I'm sure it's a big relief to you.
Fran - stay safe x
