Snowy Sunday daily

It's here, the snow came last night. Settled nicely & we have a nice covering. I love it, I hope we get 20 foot of the stuff. Can't get enough snow me!

All my Christmas shopping is done & wrapped.

Cards have been left til the last as usual, but I'm doing them today.

I'm going to have a look at updating some CP stuff today.

not much else happening, housework & jobs are all done.

Have a good day all & bring on the snow...oh yes!

Morning Smudgley, morning all

No sign of any snow here....... it's a lovely sunny day without a cloud in the sky.

I hope everyone is ready for Christmas with no last minute panics, the shops will be heaving this coming week.

Smudgley, is you have time please start a snow pictures thread for those of us who are snowless to enjoy

Stay safe, stay warm everyone!

Re: Snowy Sunday daily

No extra snow here thankfully but what there is is crunchy ice now and treacherously slippy. OH has run into town to get me a vase for my table centrepeice and to find a kiddy digital camera for Sebi but John Lewis is sold out. That means a trip to the hideous Toys r Us

We'll be going to the allotment shortly as I have tonnes of compost I need to lose plus all my potatoes have sprouted so they're going on the heap too. Domi has a swimming lesson this avvie and OH is doing a slow-cook beef casserole for dinner

That's about it from here!

Re: Snowy Sunday daily

Just done a BIG grocery shop. Hopefully I wont need to venture out to any more shops now until after Xmas. If I need anything I will pop to the local corner shop for bits and pieces.

Everywhere is covered in a thick layer of ice so I wont be out much if I can help it.. havent fallen over yet.. but dont wanna chance it!

Re: Snowy Sunday daily

Well, the blizzard is over and the City is slowly trying to recover, Sun is shining and the wind chill is -9 C! Miraculously my street has been plowed and the public sidewalk is clear, although my sidewalk isn't done. One of my neighbors has promised to do it; officially we got 16.4" at the airport, the official register. Some of the main bus lines are running now, although not my feeder line.

I didn't lose power, but the boiler is acting up and the house is very cold; I have a call in to the plumber, and am awaiting a call-back wrapped in layers of clothes with a hot water bottle! At least the sun is helping warm the house! Leia ventured on the porch for about 2 seconds and is back in,

Smudgley, you're welcome to my snow! bah humbug!!

Re: Snowy Sunday daily

The cold in Washington sounds really horrible, I hope you get your boiler sorted out soon!

I put the almond paste layer onto the cake today and used the scraps of paste to stuff some dates, brandy butter made and yesterday's sausage rolls have been moved into the freezer. All I need to do now is collect the roast on Wednesday afternoon and buy fresh veggies.

Here's an odd little thing that happened today, the dog has taken to eating candles! Took a couple of large bites out of a fat beeswax candle before we realised what he was up to, yesterday morning he snaffled a cinnamon scented tea-light! Weird or what!

Oh dear, what an odd choice of things to eat, MrsH, hope he wasn't sick!
My walk's been shoveled, and the plumber will try to make it today, but he has the same problems everyone has: his men having trouble getting in because of the road conditions. Will probably be here tomorrow. Fortunately the ample sunshine is keeping the house tolerably warm now.

Re: Snowy Sunday daily

I had to skip the library, regretfully. Am reading my "emergency book" .... always pick up a few paperbacks at the flea market just in case of a scenario like this when I'm trapped indoors.! I really missed my Sunday paper and the crossword ........ no delivery today of course.
