Oh no! What have I done?

I recently enrolled in an intermediate "THINK DOG" course.
Got my first months course work through today and am already thinking that I will NEVER get through it.
Very first assignment, a 1500 word essay on the dominance theory, 4 books to read and a month to complete it.
Think I'm gonna need all my time for this and will have to employ a dog walker for Rayne
If I drop off the face of the planet for the next 6 months, you'll all know why, that's right, I will have become a stressed out alocoholic.

I wonder what the reaction would be if you submitted a paw-print and the words "I'm thinking dog" or similar? Sounds a bit heavy Elaine!

Wish I had your confidence Pat, this is going to be ALOT harder than I thought, well worth it if I can get through it though.

Re: Oh no! What have I done?

I do hope so Eileen but I dont think I will.

Essential reading for this month.

Dominance - fact or fiction? Barry Eaton
Reaching the animals mind by Karen Pryor
Dogs - A startling new understanding of canine origin, behaviour and evolution by Raymond and Lorna Coppinger
The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson.

Additional suggested reading/watching

Dominance Theory and dogs by James O'Heare
Think Dog by John Fisher
Why does my dog by John Fisher
Dogwise by John Fisher
Dont shoot the dog by Karen Pryor
How dogs learn by Mary Burch
Diary of a dotty dog doctor by John Fisher
and
The motivation movie dvd by Jo Hill

I'm knackered just looking at the list of reading material. I already have Think Dog and Dominance - fact or fiction, so my thinking is to start there until I get the others ordered.

Don't under-rate yourself, you're a bright woman and already have a good start with more knowledge than you realize you've acquired both from experience and books. I suspect you know a lot of this already, and what you don't, will be very helpful.

Wow what a reading list, but I have the utmost faith in you bet you know most of it already - common sense and experience counts for a lot; what benefit will having the qualification be to you Elaine?

Re: Oh no! What have I done?

Originally, I thought that by doing the course it would be more benficial for the business, being able to better understand why the dogs behave as they do and being better able to read them in order to deal with any issues before they erupt into bigger issues. But mostly to help me understand my own dog better and why she sometimes does the things she does.
