Mags - how are your tomatoes doing?

Mine seem to be slower, despite the lovely hot weather we've been having. The biggest is only about the size of a sort of flattened large egg...

Re: Mags - how are your tomatoes doing?

This is the furthest on of my tomatoes. This is just a Moneymaker, and is the only one I have of that type. I am also growing Big Boy ( ) and SunBelle (yellow) in the growhouse and Super Mamande and SunBelle outside. They are ll doing fine but nothing like as far on

I also have a cucumber going great guns - pick the first at the weekend? - maybe. Can you spot it? The largest is about middle of the pic.

and this is a gherkin - I am researching dill pickle recipes!

Oooh, looking good, DM! Yes. I spotted the cucumber. I'm growing Super Marmande also; love the rich tomato flavor of that one...will take a pic when I go out soon to give Onyx her lunch. I can hardly wait to pick that first dead-ripe one! Mmmmm !!

My plants went outdoors at the beginning of May and I must admit I was hoping for some signs of formation by now

Is your Moneymaker in your tunnel DM? You have certainly got a lovely crop on there.. Your cue is doing well too!

Re: Mags - how are your tomatoes doing?

Mmm, yes DM - that real tomato flavour and aroma. I just love the smell of fresh picked tomatoes!

Yes Mags, the Moneymaker is in the polytunnel. The outside tomatoes aren't doing a lot - think it's either been deluge, cold or drought conditions for them! Mine went out exactly a month ago and are just sitting there. I hearten myself with the thought that they are making a lot of root growth to produce pounds of glorious fruit later!

Strawberries are going berserk; picked the first raspberries today.

My daughter gave me a large punnet of their strawberries from the allotment today, they're delicious, so sweet and nothing like the shop ones. She said there were some raspberries coming my way next week .....
