Help in the Garden (not!)

Last year I saved all my lupin seeds so I could plant them in the verge at the roadside. What could be easier? They're easy to grow, colourful, self seed, do ok in poor soil and would survive the odd mishap.

So planted them straight onto verge and they started to pop up. I was really pleased.

Thought they were all looking very poorly yesterday. Said to OH (who is not a gardener and doesn't pay much attention to what I do) I'd maybe water them today - after a bit of hesitation he said he didn't think it would do much good as he weed killed the verge on friday afternoon

LOL! I shouldn't laugh, but that is funny, sad but funny!!

Similar thing happened to me: I'd planted sunflower seeds behind the tomatoes. Nothing. Dad happened to mention later he'd weeded the patch for me. and it was odd that some weeds were coming up in a line.....

They mean well ....

Which is why the only thing my hubby is allowed to do in the garden, is mow the lawn and dig holes where I tell him too

I think OH had a similar experience as a young lad - told to weed a border by a rather tyrannical uncle, but not told there were parsley seedlings in the border. It's put him off gardening for life.

Wonder if my daff bulbs will survive??!!

Usually he keeps to the mowing and 'doing as he's asked'. I've asked him to stick to that in future - his defence is that the road verge is not really in the garden - anyone know a good prosecutor as his defence seems pretty logical.
