Thanks everyone. Angie - not sure about whether tabbies are common in persians but I'm sure they are - he is not actually a registered pedigree although his parents are both persians but I'm sure there are lots that are bred in this colour! I know lots of persians are bred for a pure colour only or colourpoint. Hopefully some of the persian breeders on this site can answer this. I am biased but I think he is sooo stunning |

Tabby Persians come in a variety of colours. There are Brown, which is what Tiggger is, Blue , which is what my Wes is, Red, Cream, Chocolate and Lilac. The latter two are not very common at all. You can also get all these colours in tortie-tabbies but of course they are females. They can come in three varities of tabby pattern, classic, mackerel and spotted. Due to the long coat the pattern is not as clear as that of a SH cat. While they aren't the most common they are not rare. You can also get Tabby Colourpoints as well. |
