Friday daily

Good morning ladies.
Friday afternoon 3.15pm here and it's been a nice sunny day, although not overly warm. I've been out of action for the last few days with a horrible virusy flu type thing. The slight cold that I had got a lot worse on Tuesday night and I started to feel really ill - not helped by the fact that the bite on my arm that I got from Freddie the other day became infected and I had to go to my doctor who gave me antibiotics. My arm is still swollen and I've got red streaks going up my arm to the elbow, but they haven't gone any further, thank goodness. I've got to go back and show the nurse on Monday anyway. No more grooming of cats !!! I'm going to get them all shaved when the weather is a bit warmer. Diabetes and cat bites don't seem to mix and my cats all seem to hate being groomed. At least my cold/flu is a lot better now, so the antibiotics must be helping that too.

Good news ! Brenna's biopsy results came back yesterday and it's all clear - definitely wasn't cancer, although the specialist wasn't exactly sure what it was. She's still got internal stitches and a small scar below her bottom lip, which she hopes will fade a bit, but she can live with that. Thank you both for your kind thoughts towards her while she was waiting for the results.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Queen Elizabeth this morning. She was a grand lady and she will be missed. At least now she is at peace and reunited with her husband, sister and parents again.

Janna began her job at Te Pae on Tuesday this week, and she worked Wednesday as well. She's at work today again until 9pm as well as tomorrow. She finds it challenging and hard work, but is happy to go and do the best she can. She has to prepare/set up the auditoriums/conference rooms for parties that have hired them, and clean up afterwards. They normally work in teams of 3-4, and Janna has found those she works alongside very nice. Each team member has a radio and is in contact with a coordinator all the time for safety reasons. Te Pae is a huge new convention centre in the heart of Christchurch - very modern with different levels - and Janna has got lost several times, but she enjoys it. Some of the clients are lovely too. There was a big National Party conference held there on Tuesday, and Janna got to meet Christopher Luxon, the leader of the National Party. and shake hands with him. Talk about mixing with the high and mighty !!!

The builders came this morning at 7.30am.(5 of them). Luckily Janna and I had removed everything from the lounge last night. I wasn't feeling that good and my arm was sore so poor Janna did most of the heavy work. The computer ,and lounge suite are piled up in the kitchen and the TV and keyboard are in the hallway. The heat pump and all light fittings are in the back conservatory and the guys removed the drapes and blinds. The poor cats were shut in their bedroom until the men left at 2pm, but after a great deal of sniffing around the lounge, they are sleeping on the lounge suite in the kitchen. We've got no TV for a few days unfortunately so I'm going to miss Coro Street. The painters will be here on Monday hopefully .

PAMELA,I hope you're both enjoying your 2 weeks off work and getting some nice weather. Congratulations on your 6th anniversary last Saturday. - sounds as if you had a nice evening out. That was handy that your dad could come over and fix the leak in the shower for you . Is he a plumber ? What did you end up getting your niece for her birthday today ? It's go hard buying for that age group.I've been trying to think of what to get Becca for her birthday. It's not until December, but as Ii haven't got a car, I need to try and organize something online,as not a lot of our shops are open. and I'm not close to any larger shopping malls. Anyway, I hope your niece has a lovely birthday today. Gosh, that house of yours is going to look so smart. Now you're thinking of painting the kitchen ! I'm sure you'll choose the best colour scheme. Lots of luck with the snuffle mat fair tomorrow. i hope you sell heaps and you get good weather for it .Oh yes, did you take your cat fish to the pet shop the other day ? Would he not have enjoyed life in your outdoor pond instead ? I don't know anything about fish, sorry, so not sure whether a cat fish needs a tropical environment or not. Anyway, I hope he gets a good home.

SHELLEY, how are you and the pups settling in after your holiday ? I suppose you're busy at work again, but I'm sure you'll also be busy planning your next trip away. Has your dad and his best mate gone to the van now ? I hope his dog's eye is a lot better now, the poor boy. AND I hope Malaika's gums are better now. Will you still need to get his teeth cleaned ? I hope not. I don't suppose you've had much time to finish off your book yet. You're so close now so just savor this time to do the finishing touches and get a couple of copies printed off. I hope you're still doing your Christianity course. It sounds as if you were enjoying it. I'm now trying to write an essay on the miraculous "signs" in Mark and why they cease to exist today. I actually know the answer but haven't felt well enough to start the essay yet. Maybe next week.

Well ladies, I'm all on my lonesome until around 10pm when Janna gets home. I miss her but this is the best thing for her. She can't be hanging around her mother all her life. She'll get tea at work, so I'm just going to have some spaghetti on toast tonight.

Have a wonderful Friday ladies and may the sun shine for you both today.

Re: Friday daily

Good morning ladies,

Dinky i am so glad that Brenna got her results and they were clear, that must be such a relief for you all. I do hope the infection is now under control and the antibiotics work for you. Fingers crossed your cold is also going away.

That is great that Janna is enjoying her job. It is always good when you enjoy it and it will soon become not as hard once she is used to it! She sounds like she is meeting some fantastic people as well! Good on her!

Sounds like progress is being made on the house, you will be pleased when it is all over. I bet it looks great when it is done.

It was sad to hear of the passing of the queen last night, my thoughts are with her family as it will be such a hard time for them made harder by being in the public eye all the way through it.

Shelley, how are the pups doing? How is work as well? I hope all is well.

I have a poorly Mia just now. We got up to a mess in the kitchen yesterday morning which we thought was Barney (poor boy getting the blame!). We took them for their walk and realised it was Mia who had been unwell during the night. We starved her yesterday morning but she kept being sick throughout the day and then when she had chicken and rice last night she was sick almost straight away so we managed to get a vet appointment which is the worst possible thing for her as she is terrified of the vet but the lady vet we saw was really good with her and got to listen to her heart and check her over which the male vet has never been able to do. She got me to check er eyes and gums as she lets us doing anything to her. She got an injection to stop her being sick and pills that she was meant to start last night but she is now refusing to eating and looks really sad so i think she may be back at the vet today for blood tests and xrays as thats what the vet said last night se would need if she didnt perk up. My poor girl is going to be terrified but we need to do it for her to find out whats going on.

Robyn should be starting her classes tonight but i am going to see how Mia is first. It is also pouring of rain here today and his classes are outside!

I will let you go ladies, as i am going to get ready and tak the dogs out and then make a call on whether Mia has to go back to teh vet today. Will keep you updated

Oh Pamela, I'm so sorry about Mia.Poor girl. I will keep her in my prayers tonight and hope that her tummy settles down and she starts to eat. It's so worrying when our animals are unwell and I believe me, I know what you're going through. Take care ,Pamela. I'm thinking of you and Mia, and am going to say my St Francis prayer for animals just for her right now.

Re: Friday daily

wee update on Mia, she still isnt eating so the vet have prescribed tablets to kick start her appetite. I have had to give her tablets the old fashioned way unfortunately as she wont eat. She has now had 2 tablets so hopefully they will kick in and her appetite will restart and whatever wee bug she starts getting treated.

She is finally starting to eat, was playing a scentwork game with Robyn and Mia was really interested in the treats and took some from me and has started eating pieces of boiled chicken
