New house plants

When they need retail therapy, some women buy shoes... I buy house plants!! Got three nice new little ones to brighten things up as Autumn and the darker and colder days are coming. They're small now, have been repotted and hopefully will soon resemble their catalogue pics.

Yellow Christmas cactus

Thornless Crown of Thorns

Weeping blue ginger

It has one little flowering shoot now; hopefully more soon; it's supposed to be a prolific bloomer. And I do love blue flowers.

Me too - my garden is mainly blues, lilacs, pinks and creams.

Re: New house plants

I hope it does well. Remember the blue impatiens I was so anxious to have last season? It was striking wen young but became very leggy and unattractive as it matured, so didn't bother over wintering it. Win some, lose some.

Re: New house plants

I didn't know there was a thornless variety! I had the thorny one for years: a friend's mother died and as he wasn't a plant person, gave me hers; it was huge. But eventually needed repotting, and that is almost impossible for a person to do alone, the plant is so spiny! So it eventually died after about 10 years . The little pinkish flowers are the same on this one. Hope it does well.

This what a regular one with thors looks like:

I love the weeping Blue Ginger, Eileen. I've never heard of it before.
