The haunting!!!

Now feel free to move this if you like coz i had no idea where to post it.

Many of you know that I have a fairly vivid imagination and that I do pet/house sitting. Several of my regular house sits are in the middle of nowhere and my imagination does tend to take over in the middle of the night and I imagine all sorts, scaring myself half to death.

Well my current sit is in the heart of Old Aberdeen, right next to a blooming graveyard , the cottage is called Graveyard Cottage .
I swear ro god this time it's not my imagination, I hear foorsteps upstairs in the evenings when I am watching telly and the door bell keeps ringing but there's no one there . I also fell down the stairs and swear I was pushed.
When the doorbell rings it goes...
ding dong, ding dong, ding dong, ding dong. and it's very loud and goes off at random times.
Now, when I press the door bell it simply goes ding dong!!!
I am absolutely cacking my pants on this house sit, so much so I made Erin talk to me on the phone for hours last night. I almost got in the van and came home for the night.

That sounds seriously scary. You are a braver woman than I to actually stay there. I'd certainly charge treble and not go there again!

We all need your great posts and links on Catsey
On a purely selfish level, of course, ha!

No Alex, you'd be left to do the sitting, I almost left last night, I wanted to cry and run but I cannt leave the dogs.
It's not the living that's ringing the bloody door bell.
I am hoping that when the owners get home they will be able to put it into some sort of logical perspective for me. Sadly, they dont get home until saturday

Re: The haunting!!!

What type of bell is it Elaine?
Cos, the old dingy dongy ones can be set off by the wind, or if its an electrical one? Someone nearby whos bell runs on the same frequency can set yours off at the same time, theirs is rung.
Hope this makes you feel better...
Doesn't explain why you were pushed down the stairs though

I have wondered about that but why doesnt it make the same noise when I press it?
It happened twice last week when it was those heavy rains and winds and then again last night which again it was windy then too.
But when it goes off it does the whole tune but when I press it, it doesnt

The wind exerts a totally different and prolonged force, thats why it will ding dong longer... And heavy rain battering down on it will set it off several times in a row.
Are the people that your are house sitting for in touch by phone? Do they call you to see how the dogs are? Maybe if they call you can mention all these things to them and see what they say... Though, they aren't gonna tell you it is haunted, just in case you up and leave lol...
I don't envy you, don't think I would stay there...
When I was a little girl, we stayed in a 'haunted' house in Dumfries...
