Kizzy has been to the vet

I looked at the sore place on Kizzy's side this afternoon and thought the area had got bigger, so phoned for an appointment. My vet practice has 3 different surgeries and the one I normally go to was fully booked and had had a difficult day with a dental that had taken far longer than anticipated, so I had to take Kizzy to the Bognor surgery. Poor lass.

Anyway, the vet was a chap whom I know and who used to treat Merlin. He reckoned it was a good call and thinks that there may have been an abscess which has burst. Kizzy had an anti-inflammatory, a painkiller and a long acting antibiotic. He thinks that the hole will begin to close on its own, but it may need stitches if no progress is seen by next Monday/Tuesday.

That round trip took 2 hours! My poor wee Kizzy looks brighter already - I thought she had been quieter than usual this afternoon and not able to settle down. Can't bear the thought of my darling feeling poorly over the weekend - although my vet surgery does run their own emergency cover.

An abcess ouch, good job you took her. I suspect then it was due to a fight with another cat. Glad she is feeling a little perkier.

Well done you on going in then Angie. Always hard to decide. And so glad to hear she's responded already - result.

I do hope that it heals without her needing stitches.

*gentle rubs* to Kizzy and *hugs* for yourself.

Re: Kizzy has been to the vet

Hope Kizzy's feeling a lot better soon, I've only once had a cat with an abscess and it unfortunately needed stitches, glad Kizzy has avoided needing them!
