Does anyone know the going rate?

For the tooth fairy these days??

Ceilidh announced this afternoon she has her first wobbley tooth. Looks like she will loose it either tonight or tomorrow. Oh my baby is growing up . I dont know how much I should give her for her "first special tooth".

Re: Does anyone know the going rate?

I think the clever toothfairy matches the reward to what would be a nice, useful surprise, given what she (Ceilidh, not the fairy) is used to? Two-pound coin? (Clueless here... The tooth-fairy never visited us, but we did have the Toblerone-badger stow the occasional (obvious) sweet under our pillows. I came from an odd, funny sort of family.)

Maybe a 50p???

I could get away with that when they were young, but as they got older it progressed to a £1 coin!!

Not sure. Well she's 5, I dont want her going out and telling everyone very proudly that she got ..... then find out they get more and laugh at her. I think Darryle got £1 but that was about 10 years ago.
Just thought I could phone the dentist

Leave what you find sensible, but find something else - nice hair-bobble? - and if her friends laugh at her, tell her the fairy also left her a present (as it was her first tooth) but was afraid it would get broken/mussed under the pillow so left it with you/on her shelf/somewhere else? If they don't, then I'm sure she wouldn't mind a small something for being extra good another time.

Mine get £2 coin. It's an expensive game though

Someone I know - her son found a puppy tooth & put it under his pillow. Thought he'd trick the tooth fairy. Guess what??? Tooth fairy knew & took the tooth & put a Bonio there.

Brilliant idea thanks.

Smudgley, that is so funny...
I remember a few years ago there was a boy in the paper. He lost his tooth, the tooth fairy left him money so he got plyers and pulled the rest out
