Is It Normal...

For a cat to make strange noises when they drink?

Never heard a cat make much noise at all while drinking. Does he have anything stuck in his throat?

Although your reply made me smile, my question is quite serious ........ which end is the noise coming from?

I'm not entirely sure its Muffin that does it, I think I will get the vet to check him out before he is neutered. But it really is strange and very confusing. I've tried to work out whether he is actually farting while drinking or its in the stomach area or throat.

Re: Is It Normal...

Maybe he gulps too fast and swallowing too much air. There are bowls you can buy which have sort of bubbles in them to help prevent this. Does he drink from the tap at all? If so does he do it then too? Maybe a water fountain would be better than a bowl of water.
I would ask the vet when he goes in though just to make sure that there isnt another more sinister reason for it though.

Does he pee alot too? Anything else that may be out of the norm'? They are all quite young arent they? Best get the vet to check him over before neutering.
