Six and a half years ago I began using the Catsey forums because we had just got our first cat, Oli. We were both students and thought the world of Oli. He was our baby.

Over the years, Oli had adopted the behaviour of a baby. He loved me picking him up and carrying him around on my hip and giving him kisses. He liked to head butt us, especially when he wanted attention. He lowered his head when we asked for 'kisses' and he welcomed all of our other pets and most recently our non-furry baby. He was perfect and loved Isobelle (our baby).

On Friday 29th April, we went downstairs later than usual to give the cats their breakfast. Oli didn't come for his food so my husband went to look for him. Oli always greeted us as soon as we went downstairs and he always jumped up on the worktop to help us serve his food. Unfortunately Oli was laying under the stairs .... this is our big cat area where there are beds, scratch posts and a litter tray. He wasn't breathing and our world stopped.

We have no idea what was wrong with Oli or why he was taken at such a young age. He had not shown any signs of illness, had a healthy appetite and was lively when we put the three cats to bed the night before.

Oli did have a heart murmur and overcame cat flu as a kitten. He was our fighter and its quite difficult trying to imagine life without him. The other cats are really missing him, particularly Ella. They were always snuggled up all day every day.

Oli has been at the vets since Friday and he was being sent off to be cremated. We have been told he should be ready to come home on Friday. He was an indoor cat so is going to stay that way. We are going to keep him in the living room next to a photo.

Oliver, Oli, Little Flakes of Snow,Snow Flake, Livy, Livy Cat, Livalls, Liv Lou, Powder Puff, Sugar Lump, Chicken Pie, we really do love you baby. We hope you know how much. We miss you lots but hope you are happy and at peace.

What a terrible shock for you as a family....gut wrenching but he died safe and sound in his home and you know what happened. He died where he was loved home with you. That has to be a comfort.

I'm so sorry Tanya. I too remember enjoying reading about Oli . . . I heartbroken for you and can completely understand your shock, it happened with one of my cats a few years back too and reading your tribute brought those memories back.
