Tunnel bookWe don't seem to have a section for hobbies or craft so sorry if I am putting this in the wrong place! This is the tunnel book so far ..... I need to work on getting my camera's depth of field better because it's not as clear as it could be.   Today I will be working on the cover ...... everything crossed that it goes OK. The last thing will be to glue the tunnel itself into the cover. I will post another photo when it's finished.

Ah, that looks amazing Angie  I can see the tunnel idea and love the shells they are so pretty. Could really do with sitting in the deckchair right now and feeling the warm sun on my face. Nice! |

How clever! My Dad used to get me doing these multi-plane pictures when I was younger. He designed stage sets (amongst other creative stuff) when he first came to the UK after the war and he taught me how to create layered sets. I never really thought of turning them into a book - I just wish I had time to revisit such fun activities now. Can't wait to see the cover - please do post when finished |

I finished it this afternoon ............ quite pleased and very relieved. I will take it to my calligraphy class tomorrow and post photos. Although I am quite pleased with it, I know the other ladies at the class will have produced tunnel books that look much more professional and less "home-made" than mine does, but this is the first time I've done anything like it, even though IMO it's a bit "Blue Peter"! |

Finished with cover - Front cover:  The opened "book"  Left-hand (verso)  The centre or tunnel  Right-hand (recto)  Front and back cover  I was quite pleased with it, especially the cover as I tried a new technique (to me) with rubbing pastel along a curve to make a wave effect. Folk at the group were very kind! )Sorry I couldn't seem to crop the pictures down, edit on P/bucket is again not working!) |

Thanks Alex. I do have instructions if anyone is interested in doing their own book. Yola, I meant to say what an interesting man your dad must have been. Years ago at Art College, I flat-shared with a girl who was studying theatre design and so I spent quite a while around the workshops. I remember the smell of some sort of horrid glue even to this day. Bet they use something different now, health & safety! |
