Are they putting up her premiums based on her age or because you have made a claim recently? What you've got at the moment is a fund-limited policy, so you have a 'pot' of money that will be dipped into every time you make a claim i.e if she developed a chronic condition like diabetes, but once it's gone, you're no longer covered for that condition. The excess for that policy is pretty good. In theory, you would be better of with a lifetime cover option but you tend to pay a higher premium with these policies. You will also need to look at the upper age limit cut off, I know with petplan it's 10yrs for cats (8 for dogs) but unsure about other companies. I would avoid a time-limited policy at all costs and make sure you read the small print carefully-some policies don't cover things like sending tissue samples for analysis or the extra costs incurred during out of hours hospitalisation. I apologise if you know all this already! The fact that she has no other underlying conditions will help and I think the best thing to do is to get a few online quotes, you don't have anything to lose after all! |

Thank you Pinklizzy, I can't help wondering what on earth my age has to do with my cat's insurance. I can't see any that are 'life time' but some are marked 'unlimited'. It's confusing after a while. I shall keep trawling... |

If your animal is with them from birth or a lot of years, surely the age cut off doesnt count anymore? Wonder why Sainsburys is doing that, bith my dogs are with them. Katie on limited policy & Harvey on the lifetime Have you got your new quote? I would phone & query it. If they double ours, i would seriously reconsider if they hype Katies up. Hers is due for renewal soon All the cats are with PetPlan life policies |

Petplan do lifetime cover but I'm not sure whether the premiums would be more than you are paying already. I pay about £16 a month for Imogen and she's only 3. |
