help! birman dilema!

Hi Guys im new to Catsey and ive joined as i need the help of some fellow cat mums.
i have just put a deposit on a birman kitten but on seeing the parents the mother seemed to have rather shorter hair. the seller said that was because females can have shorter hair and males are more fluffy. Is this right, can anyone help!

How exciting that you are soon to be a mum of a Birman kitten!

I'm the owner of a lovable moggy but I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer your question about Birmans.

Do you have any photos of the mum or the kitten?

Personally I have never seen a shorter coated Birman female, there are a few birman owners on here that may be able to advise better. As Mags says, pics would be good.

Hi and welcome to Catsey. I have a male Birman who is extremely fluffy, the females I have seen have been very fluffy too. Are you sure you are ready for a Birman? They are incredibly vocal!!!

Maybe you should have done that before putting a deposit on the kitten?

I know someone has a Birman and she is incredibly fluffy. Not sure if they loose "coat" if they have had a litter of kittens?
Did someone recomend the breeder of the kittens to you, and have you meet them before goping to see the kittens I mean do you trust them? There must be something niggling you?

To be honest after I had put a deposit on Caspurr (I hadn't seen him though) I started to get little niggles about things. I had spent a lot of time researching the breed and things just didn't seem right. To cut a long story short I stuck with my "deposit" and went for him in due course. I ended up with a very sick little boy.
If your gut instinct is telling you that "something" isn't quite right go with it. I have yet to be let down by a "feeling" . I wouldn't change Caspurr for all the tea in China BUT I wish I hadn't dismissed my gut feeling.
