Re: windy wednesday

Yes, you are right Shelley - windy! Nice and bright out but that wind is raw. We both went out with Monty for a walk this morning up to Kingley Vale which is not far from us. Love this spot - have been going there off and on since I was at school. We spotted buzzards and a large flock of Fieldfare/Redwing that had been written up on the "What's been seen" board; OH saw Yellowhammers but although Red Kite have been seen in the area, we weren't lucky today.

I reviewed my Christmas card list yesterday so I know I need 60 cards at the least! Just have to find the remainder from last year now!!!

Looking forward to the quiz this evening.

Re: windy wednesday

we saw a Red Kite in Scotland this year. I'd just finished reading an information board about them and one flew very conveniently overhead.

They are brilliant Shelley! I've seen them in the Chilterns - they give stunning "performances" of aerobatic skills. I was lucky enough to be able to lie on the grass and just watch them.

Re: windy wednesday

Hello both! Your bird watching experiences sound quite satisfying over all.

Busyish day here. Got back about 1:40 to have lunch, having been christmas shopping with a friend, and will soon be leaving to visit another friend for a short while this afternoon.

Will be looking forwards to a quiet evening when I get in I think!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Re: windy wednesday

Hi all! Dismal weather, steady all day rain that may turn to a bit of wet snow North and West as it ends tonight. Still mild, a bit past 10:30 AM and 13℃ (55℉), very unseasonable. I couldn't get out to pick Leia's grass, poor girl. She apparently had a bad dream just now, she was twitching paws and then fluffed the tail, i assume the latter meant she was in a scary situation ... how I wish they could talk! I didn't bother going downstairs for mail; got my two small deliveries yesterday and the wine is coming today.

Hope your wind dies down some. The bird watching sounds like fun; I don't see too many from where I am now. Sorry you have a sore throat, Shelley, nasty things! Hopefully the quiz tonight will take your mind off it for a bit; hope to see a good crowd tonight.

Stay warm and dry.....

Poor Leia, having a bad dream
It's quite funny to watch them though, one of our dogs in the past used to eat in his sleep.

Re: windy wednesday

Hi all, hope Leia's dreams are nicer soon! We saw red kites being fed one holiday in Wales. Hundreds of them swooping down, it was amazing !

I had a meeting here today- not one of 'ours', anyone recognise it?
