Firenza (Fifi). June 1997 - April 2012
I first came across Fifi at a persian cat breeder's in East Sussex. I was visiting because I'd set my heart on a red Persian and she had a little boy available. I picked him up and the little monkey stuck his teeth into my hand So I put him down. Up on one of the ledges this amazingly beautiful baby Persian was wiggling and dancing . . . I mentioned to the breeder that I imagined she was reserved as she was stunning. The breeder told me 'no'. So we reserved her!
Firenza - named after the City of Florence, was a very rare colour at the time; a lilac cream. She was a 'doll-faced' Persian, with a slightly more pointed face than usual and was bred for 'temperament and behaviour' and lived up to this all her life. She was the most mild-mannered, well-behaved little cat. So much so, that I don't have any remarkable stories to tell because she did what she was told . . . the worst thing was catching a dragonfly one summer and snapping its body in half
When Fifi came home she immediately rubbed along well with our blue boy, Balie. She used to spend ages washing him and really mothered him.
As time went on she slowed down, she developed a tumour on her front paw which was had operated on, but stopped short of amputation as the biopsy stated it was a type which was unlikely to metastasize.
She was the most gentle, adorable little girl who would purr a soon as you looked at her. If she got really excited she'd nibble your finger, again very gently.
We will all miss her terribly and with both my original 'oldies' now gone it feels like something really has shifted in our house We will always love you our Fifi Flower.
