Happy tuesday everyone
Lovely and sunny here, hope it is everywhere else.
Had a fright yesterday, my laptop wouldn't work
It switched itself off and refused to boot up, and i felt bereft, after all my little world is in it
It does sometimes switch off but usualy starts again after about 5 mins. I wonder if it gets too hot as the fan is underneath. Seems ok now, phew. I must get an external hardrive though, i have too much to back up now on pendrives.
Went for a lovely meal last night with a group of ladies who all worked at a particular day nursery, i worked with two of them in 1979.

Sorry to hear about your laptop Shelley, glad you have got it working again.

Im off to another interview today for lloyds tsb in the city. Its call centre work which ive never done but its full time with good shifts so will see how it goes. Babysitting my nephew and niece tonight so busy day.

Morning all, good luck for the interview Pamela!

My day started by following the dog around the garden with an old pot to collect a urine specimen from him, thank goodness it's easy to do with a boy dog (see separate thread "Morgan's a bit poorly") He was a real pain in the vets, so excited and eager to see everyone, hoping they're going to play with him and then squeaking and woo-woo-wooing at the slightest encouragement. I really do have an embarrassing dog He's such a show-off!

It's another beautiful day here but there are a few local reports of grass fires on the heaths and our usual walking spot is cordoned off for the moment, I think we'll just keep the boy indoors for a few days anyway. Enjoy the sun, hope you all have it!

Afternoon all! Yes, gloriously warm and sunny day here too. I have a cleaning firm in to give MIL's old room a good clean, mattress, carpet the lot. Also had a call from my old school friend who popped around with her mum for a coffee on their way to have a walk by part of the harbour. We remembered some old times and even sang "Nymphs and Shepherds Come Away" in the garden. What must the cleaning men have thought???

A really jolly day. Hope everyone else has a good one too.

Dogs been to the river, we had to go a different way today as there were cows in the first field. Malaika enjoyed a paddle in the company of some other dogs, Kwame whinged as usual, he got his feet a bit wet and the other dogs shook near him He realy is a wimp

Well, we're not sure .... he will be 8 weeks old on Bank Holiday Monday. The breeder wants the pups to all go on the same day so we just have to wait for the call. We've said we can go any time.

Shelley I was out yesterday afternoon for early meal with friends and out Thursday for a curry with friends just realised that I used to meet friends in the pub/clubs but now we meet for a meal.

On nights ...yes again last on tonight. But really enjoying work at the moment. Love being busy and helping/chatting to customers. So the nights are a bit of a change of direction. And will be here for the quiz tomorrow.

Angie any thoughts on a name for the pup? and MrsH any news on the next "embarrassing " K9 to join the family. hope all goes well with the vets.

I like that, suits the breed. Don't forget to take him places before he has his jabs...you just carry him.
It's all learning. Before Sal had hers she came with me into shops (pet shops) the train, to the school pickup, and to the stables etc just a walk up the road in my arms. Getting her used to everything and you can of course take him out in the car and carry him when you go on your walks. Or take him to friends homes who do not have dogs or have dogs that have had their injections. The risk is very small and if you had another dog your pup would mix with them anyhow is how I see it.

I recall spending hours sitting on the floor encouraging Sal to bring me back and then release the soft toys/balls. Making myself the safest place she could ever wish to be it worked too.

Even at puppy classes at the vets people sat on chairs I sat on the floor so if Sal/tess got a bit intimidated/scared by the older pups she could come back to my lap pluck up courage and go again. Its common sense as I see it but your pup is what you make him, people may laugh smile at you but remember its them who will have the unsocialised, unindependant dog not you.

Be prepared for the screaming/crying the first few nights...but persevere, he will be safe and secure just get ear plugs, and leave a radio on low for him.
Its worth it and don't forget to leave him for short periods of time as a pup so he gets used to be alone. Otherwise its a pain when you cannot leave them at all, just short periods of going to the shops/meal etc. Mind you that is me I cannt abear a dog that is not capable of being left alone for a while. Or worse in my opinion chews/screams when you leave them in a room when adult.
